Traveling to Guatemala as a U.S. citizen requires a passport. Travelers entering Guatemala with a U.S. passpport do not need a travel visa - U.S. passport alone is sufficient for entry.

If you already have a passport, make sure it is still valid.
While some international destinations require that your U.S. passport be valid for up to 6 months after entry into the country, this does not apply to Guatemala. According to the U.S. Department of State travel guide, your passport must be valid at the time of entry into Guatemala. Check your passport’s expiration date. If your expiration date is after your date of entry into Guatemala, you are all set!

La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in the capital city Guatemala City is the closest airport to Antigua, Guatemala.
Double-check the airport name and airport code to ensure you are traveling to the correct destination. You should be flying into La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City, NOT Bird International Airport (ANU) in Antigua and Barbuda.
Antigua is just a short 1-hour drive from Guatemala City, without traffic. We do not recommend renting a car and driving yourself.

Uber → Cheap and easily available in Guatemala, but exact rates will vary depending on traffic.
Please note: UberX is not available in Guatemala, therefore most Ubers will only take 3 passengers max. Also keep luggage space in mind when exploring transportation to and from the airport.
